Apart from the title cut, Streetlife Serenade may not contain any of Joel's better-known tunes, but the album does offer fans a glimpse at Joel gearing up to deliver the trio of career-defining records that came on the heels of this one. Here he experiments with Myth of America-style literary themes and half Broadway, half ragtime melodies.
