The former Slim Shady's 12-step album comes off really emo. He's giving self-help speeches, complaining about fame, confessing he's a recluse, going on the defensive then taking the blame. But he supplements all the sorry-for-self sap with bursts of profanity, scatology, and verbal dexterity -- even some sex, which seems to gross him out less than it used to. His pile of producers embraces techno and goth; with ladies including Pink and Rihanna chiming in, rapping is often the least interesting element. But at least in "W.T.P." (which stands for "White Trash Party") Eminem has some fun.
