Rhino/Elektra
This box set takes you through the key years at Elektra Records (1963 to 1974), when the label went from putting out superior folk artists like Judy Collins and Phil Ochs to revolutionary rock by the likes of the Doors, Love, the Stooges and MC5. It's a strange journey, to be sure, but a vastly rewarding one, with sadly forgotten cult acts like David Ackles and Jobraith joining the bigger names. This was an era when major labels took real chances and signed acts like the Holy Modal Rounders. Come back, Elektra Records -- we need you!
